Spanish – Advanced Intermediate Level

OBJECTIVES

This course was made for individuals who want to express themselves in Spanish, but who make a few mistakes. The intermediate advanced participants can adequately use, both written and orally, verbs conjugated in the past, present and future tenses.

At the end of the course, the participants will be able to:

  • Understand the essential content of concrete or abstract subjects in a complex text, including technical discussions in their field of employment
  • Communicate with a degree of spontaneity and comfortableness when conversing with a native speaker, there should be no tension for either speaker
  • Express themselves in a clear and detailed manner on a wide range of topics
  • Give an opinion regarding a news topic and give the benefits and disadvantages of various possibilities

They will communicate and argue on various subjects of interest. They will work on their oral comprehension and reading skills. Various discussions on different topics regarding the Hispanic world.

A placement test is suggested before registering for a course (exception: having taken and passed the prerequisite course)

 

PREREQUISITE

Having taken the intermediate level course or having passed the placement test.

    • Agree or disagree with a proposition, express your agreement or disagreement, organize arguments

    • Past participle in the passive voice
    • Review and consolidation of the use of Indicative or Subjunctive mood

      • Morphology and uses
    • Imperfect Subjunctive mood

    • Hypothesis using the Imperfect Subjunctive and Conditional moods
    • Using the Present and Imperfect Subjunctive moods for wishes
    • Verb agreement in relative clauses
    • Past Subjunctive mood to express anticipation
    • Impersonal construction of sentences using se and the 3rd person plural
    • Consolidation with por and para
    • Some logical connectors used to organize and nuance your argument

    • Indirect discourse using the Subjunctive mood

    • A few adverbs, adjectives, gerunds and prepositions used in descriptions
